It’s easy to look around at what’s happening in the earth today and be tempted to feel afraid or dismayed. Circumstances may seem overwhelming. Maybe your business is struggling, maybe you lost your job, maybe you’re struggling in a relationship or concerned about the economy. During times like these, it’s important to remember that God has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us. In fact, not only is He with us, He has promised to strengthen us and harden us to difficulties. That means, when tough times come, they just bounce right off of you. You don’t allow your circumstances to steal your peace and joy. You have the attitude that says, “This may be a big problem, but my God is bigger!”
Keep in mind that the enemy isn’t after your checkbook; he’s ultimately after your peace and joy. He knows that if he can get your joy, then he can get your strength. But when you stay connected to the Father through prayer, studying the Word and declaring His promises over your life, you’ll be hardened to difficulties and stay safe in the palm of God’s hand!

"Humanity is a funny thing. I log on of an evening to Facebook, following The Voice, maybe Dancing With The Stars, Ice Hockey, The Superbowl, Soccer, Masterchef or an AFL match, and find myself in a pool of negative words as I scroll through my news feed, based around players and celebrities on the screen, judgements and insults flying, and harsh words plastered for all to see. This made me think deeply on the power of our words. The reality is, when we pull people off of our stages and screens, and push back the performance of their jobs, we realise we hold a lot of basic things in common—breathing, moving, eating, living, loving and yes - experiencing pain. Jesus took the weight of the world not only for you, but for those you slander also. Your words are not invisible to the world. The internet is a public forum. Our similarities are even, and His sacrifice levels the playing field in my eyes. We place those on television upon an ‘untouchable pedestal’, a throne of some kind, as though they are unshakable, immovable, and emotionless. Truth be told, they are no greater and no less, than the homeless man begging on the street. No greater and no less than the single mother, the drug addict, the prostitute, the school child, the you’s and the me’s. So I challenge you to remember, life and death is in the power of the tongue; before you log on to write that negative status, that insulting photo comment, or that sarcastic yet hurtful wall post - ask yourself, what are my words really saying about who I am, and what I stand for. Life or death, the choice is yours."
